Grandma’s meatballs recipe 🇲🇽 Old fashioned mexican meatballs

My Granda’s meatballs recipe, old-fashioned way and today I share with you. I hope you enjoy it with your love ones.

INGREDIENTES

2  tablespoon of cooking oil

1 tablespoon (to stir fry de elbows)

1 cup of elbow pasta ( 100 – 120 g )

2 garlic cloves

1/2 sliced onion

1/2  teaspoon of orenano

6 ripe roma tomatoes

1 cup of water  ( to use up the remaining sauce)

10 cups of water ( 2  1/2 liters)

750 g of Beef bones  (  if you don’t want to use  the bones use  10 cups of any  brand of  chicken or beef broth  instead the water

Some cilantro sprigs

2 sliced carrots

2 zuchinnis cut into litlle chunks

Salt to taste

 

Ingredients to prepare the meat

1 kilo of ground beef meat

1/2 cup of ground oats ( you can replace with breadcrums)

1/2 teaspoons of ground cumin

2 teaspoon dried parsley

1 egg

Some broth ( to form a paste with the ground oats)

Salt and ground pepper to taste

 

PREPARATION

In a hot pot put 2 tablespoon of cooking oil

Add 2 garlic cloves and the sliced onion, and stir fry 2 minutes add 1/2 teaspoon of oregano and stir fry just for 15 seconds.

Add the roma tomatoes and cook over medium heat until they are soft and tender (about 7 minutes)

Let it cool and blend it and put it back in the pot

Pour 1 cup of water in the blender to use all the remaining sauce and add it in the pot.

Add 10 cups of water (or any brand of broth if you are not using the beef bones)

Once it’s hot add salt to taste,  add the beef bones and the cilantro.

Once it’s boiling cover and cook for 20 minutes

To prepare the meat grind some oats flakes in the blender,  we’ll use 1/2  of ground oats add some broth to form a paste. Set aside

Add salt, pepper, egg, parsley,  cumin and the oats paste and mix.

To form the meatballs easily moisten you hands with water or use a little bit of cooking oil

Make the meatballs any size you prefer

When the broth is boiling and the meatballs one by one

Remove any white foam it may form

Cover and cook for 20 minutes over medium heat

Mean while in a hot saucepan add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and stir fry over medium heat  the elbow until golden brown.

Add the the carrots and the golden elbows into the pot and coo for 10 minutes

Once 10 minutes pass add the zuchinnis and cook for 3 minutes.

Serve with dinner buns and enojy!
